Learn How to Play 3-Card Poker

When looking for poker fun in West Virginia, both novices and pros love 3-Card Poker at Mardi Gras Casino & Resort. In 3-Card Poker, you may bet against the dealer, bet on the value of your own hand or bet on both.

Wagering takes place before the cards are dealt, in which you must place an ante wager or an ante wager and pair plus wager. An ante wager is placed against the dealer, whereas a pair plus wager is against a posted scale of payouts. A pair plus wager may only be placed if an ante wager has also been placed and cannot exceed the ante.

The dealer and each player are dealt three cards face down. Each player will look at their cards and either fold or place a play wager to continue. If you fold, you forfeit your ante and, if placed, your pair plus wager. If you continue to play, your play wager must be equal to your ante.

To qualify, the dealer must have a queen high or better. If the dealer does not qualify, your ante wins 1-1 and your play wager is returned to you. If the dealer qualifies and your hand beats the dealer, your play wager wins 1-1, and in addition, your ante wager pays 1-1. If there is a tie, the hand is a push and the wagers are returned.

Ante Bonus and Payouts

If you wager against the dealer, the following bonuses are paid to you:

HAND PAYOUT
Straight 1-1
Three of a Kind 4-1
Straight Flush 5-1

Pair Plus Payouts

A pair plus wager allows you to wager on the ranked value of your hand as it is dealt. Your wager does not compete with the dealer’s hand. An ante wager must also be placed in addition to the pair plus wager. Pair plus wager payouts are:

HAND PAYOUT
Pair 1-1
Flush 3-1
Straight 6-1
Three of a Kind 30-1
Straight Flush 40-1

Things to Remember When Playing 3-Card Poker

If an incorrect number of cards are dealt to the dealer or any player, the dealer will call a misdeal.

A card that is exposed will not be considered a misdeal, but if one or more cards are exposed, a misdeal will be called.

An Ace is the highest ranking card except in a 2-3-Ace sequence.

Players may not communicate information regarding their hands, which will result in a dead hand and loss of wager.

If one or more of the dealer’s cards are exposed before the dealer reveals his or her hand, all hands will be void and reshuffled.
